Purpose: Eureka! conference aims to create an unprecedented environment to showcase the diverse work created in Californian graduate music institutions. Concentrating on breaking down interdisciplinary and institutional boundaries between musicologists, theorists, ethnomusicologists, music educators, composers, sound artists, and performers, Eureka! forges lasting connections between graduate scholars within the state.
The 2017 Eureka! conference will be presented in collaboration with the 16th Annual California State University, Fullerton New Music Festival on February 25, 2017: ...to the ends of the earth" sounds from Iceland to Australia and Beyond, directed by Dr. Pamela Madsen. The conference is a continuation of the unprecedented environment established in 2015 that showcased the diverse work created in Californian graduate music institutions.Directed by Elisse La Barre (UCSC) and Leslie La Barre (CGU), the Eureka! conference aims to create an unprecedented environment to showcase the diverse work created in Californian graduate music institutions, and forge lasting connections between graduate scholars within the state. We look forward to presenting music created at the edge of the Pacific.
The conference will conclude with a performance by the Eureka! 2017 Ensemble-in- Residence, Aperture Duo.
Requirements: Presenters and composers must be currently enrolled at the time of the conference in any Californian graduate music program and all are required to be in attendance.
