Robert M. Stevenson, born in 1916 and trained in music at Texas, Juilliard, Yale, Rochester, Harvard, Princeton Theological Seminary, and Oxford University, is one of the founders of our field. His teachers included Leo Schrade, Jack Westrup, Arthur Schnabel, and Igor Stravinsky. His election as an Honorary Member by the International Musicological Society in 2006 marks the first such award of its kind since 1992.

This luncheon seeks to honor Professor Stevenson for over a half century of outstanding teaching and original scholarship chiefly in--but not not limited to--Latin American colonial music, resulting in some thirty books, nearly 300 articles, pathbreaking bibliographical work from Renaissance to twentieth-century repertories, as well as his founding of the Inter-American Music Review.

Tickets for the Stevenson Luncheon are no longer available (10/29/07). If you are still interested in attending, stop by the registration desk at the meeting and add your name to the waiting list--a few openings may occur.

This light-hearted evening features AMS members reveling in their performing milieu: featured guests include Joshua Rifkin, Rufus Hallmark, Wendy Heller, Sylvia Kahan, John Covach, Rob Walser, Scott DeVeaux, Brian Mann, and others. Emcee Victor Coelho will lead the evening, which includes light dinner and wine.

Tickets for the AMS OPUS Cabaret are no longer available (10/30/07). If you are still interested in attending, stop by the registration desk at the meeting and add your name to the waiting list--a few openings may occur.
