Dining for OPUS

University of Chicago Graduate Students Dine for OPUS!

Music students at the University of Chicago rang in the new school-year with full stomachs and newfound respect for their professors’ culinary skills, courtesy of a special event we called “Dining for OPUS.” In exchange for the opportunity to sample delicacies such as Philip V. Bohlman’s Famous Hummus and Berthold Hoeckner’s Brot und Bier at the Welcome Back Dinner in September, student composers, musicologists, theorists and ethnomusicologists offered pledges to the AMS OPUS campaign. When it was all over, Larry Zbikowski’s coffee-cake lay in ruins, six professorial participants wiped the flour from their noses, and OPUS welcomed the support of 17 new student sponsors.

Student Co-Chairs Ana Alonso-Minutti, Rob Pearson and I hope you’ll plan to hold a “Dining for OPUS” occasion on your campus soon!  For further details on our event, don’t hesitate to contact me at supria@uchicago.edu.

The UCDavis Dining for OPUS event will be held on 17 October 2007.
