Back issues of the AMS Newsletter (from 1971 to present)

The AMS Newsletter is published semiannually in February and August.  The February Newsletter includes election information each year. The August Newsletter is mailed with the Annual Meeting information each year. Please allow three weeks for delivery in North America and six weeks for overseas.

Current Delivery Schedule: the August 2015 AMS Newsletter was mailed the first week of August 2015. The February 2016 AMS Newsletter is scheduled to be mailed to members and subscribing institutions in late February 2016.

If you did not receive an issue: please send us a note.

Replacement policy: Issues will be replaced if requested within 90 days of publication (180 days for overseas). Beyond this period, a service charge will be assessed.

Items for inclusion in the Newsletter should be sent to the Newsletter Editor, James Parsons, jamesparsons@missouristate.edu. Please note that he must receive materials by 1 December (for the February issue) and 1 May (for the August issue). The AMS attempts to meet requests for inclusion of items in the Newsletter, but space limitations occasionally require editing and/or limiting the item. When possible, please include an internet URL with your item which readers may use to obtain further information.

Guidelines for Announcements of Awards, Prizes, and Honors: Awards and honors given by the Society are announced in the Newsletter. In addition, the editor makes every effort to announce widely publicized awards. Other announcements come from individual submissions. The editor does not include awards made by the recipient’s home institution or to scholars who are not currently members of the Society. Awards made to graduate student members as a result of national or international competitions are also announced. The editor is always grateful to individuals who report honors and awards they have received. Send to: ams@ams-net.org.

Policy on Obituaries: The Society wishes to recognize the accomplishments of members who have died by printing obituaries in the Newsletter. Obituaries will normally not exceed 400 words and will focus on music-related activities such as teaching, research, publications, grants, and service to the Society. The Society requests that colleagues, friends, or family of a deceased member who wish to see him or her recognized by an obituary communicate that desire to the editor of the Newsletter. The editor, in consultation with the advisory committee, will select the author of the obituary and edit the text for publication. The committee comprises the executive director (chair), the secretary of the Council, and one other member.

Submission deadlines: 1 December and 1 May.
