AMS/SMT Indianapolis 2010 Travel Information

The Indianapolis Marriott Downtown and The Westin Indianapolis have rooms set aside for conference attendees at rates listed below. Phone and refer to the "American Musicological Society / Society for Music Theory" meeting to get the conference rate.

BOTH HOTELS: $169 (single/double), $189 (triple), $209 (quad) per night — reserve on-line or by phone. These rates were available until 13 October 2010. Budget 15% additional for taxes.

For other nearby alternatives, see the "hotel" index at Google Maps. (Note that not all nearby hotels are listed here.) Other travel Web sites (Orbitz, Kayak, Hotels.com, Travelocity, Priceline, etc.) may also offer attractive options.

Update 10/14/2010: Both the Marriott and Westin are now sold out. It is possible that rooms may open up as the meeting date approaches; be advised, however, that the conference rate may not be available.

Both the Westin and the Marriott will hold paper sessions and other small meetings. The book exhibit and about two thirds of the paper sessions will take place at the Marriott; one third of the sessions, and some small meetings and receptions, will take place at the Westin.

The AMS negotiates a contract for meeting space and hotel room-nights with hotels four or five years before each Annual Meeting. We agree to occupy a certain number of rooms and contract with hotels for this, in exchange for their agreement to provide hotel rooms as well as meeting space and services. We are liable to pay significant supplemental fees if we do not hold up our end of the agreement; thus your decision to stay at the conference hotels, in addition to enabling convenient access to the Annual Meeting, helps to ensure that we meet our contractual obligations.
