      <description><![CDATA[<em>JAMS</em> 61/1, Spring 2008, is nearly ready to be sent to the membership. We want to make sure those who wish to renew do so prior to the release of the JAMS issue, to be sure they receive their copy in a timely way. If you're a member and have not yet renewed for 2008, please do so now. 
<p>We sent out "Second Notice" forms a week ago, and an email notification a couple of days ago. If you're not sure, log in at <a href="http://www.theams.us">www.theams.us</a> and you can see your current membership status. </p>
<p>Those who renew prior to March 18 will be assured of receiving <em>JAMS</em>&nbsp;61/1 this month.</p>]]></description>

      <title>AMS Board of Directors and Program Committee meets</title>

      <description><![CDATA[The office is currently preparing for two meetings coming up this weekend. The Program Committee gathers Friday to Sunday to deliberate and choose the Nashville program. They received 548 proposals, 144 of which will be selected.
<p>The AMS Board of Directors meets Saturday and Sunday in Nashville as well. They have a full agenda, including setting next year's budget.</p>
<p>The office staff have been hard at work preparing for these two meetings for the past month or so.</p>]]></description>

* the M. Elizabeth C. Bartlet fund for travel and research in France<br />
* the Harold Powers world travel fund<br />
* the Eugene K. Wolf travel fund for research in Europe<br /><br />

The deadline for applications to be received is 5 p.m. EST, 3 March 2008.<br /><br />
