Call for Papers Fall 2008: Deadline Extended to January 18

The South-Central Chapter of the American Musicological Society (AMS-SC) is pleased to announce its 2009 Annual Meeting, to be hosted by Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. The meeting will begin on the morning of Friday, March 27, and will conclude by noon on Saturday, March 28. Proposals for presentations, special sessions, papers with a performance component, and panel discussions are solicited on any topic related to historical musicology. Presentations will be limited to twenty minutes, with an additional ten minutes allotted for questions and discussion.Submissions should include the following:An abstract of no more than 250 words, suitable for publication. Abstracts should be concise but thorough and clearly indicate the scope of your research, the research methods employed, and your conclusions. Please include the proposal’s title at the top of the page and indicate the author’s name, mailing address, email address, phone number, institutional affiliation or place of residence, and AV equipment needs at the bottom. A note from an adviser or other faculty member verifying student status should accompany each abstract submitted by a student. Student members of the AMS-SC whose abstracts are selected by the program committee will be eligible to compete in the Rey M. Longyear Student Paper Competition. This award, given in memory of Professor Longyear, will be announced at the chapter meeting.Submission Instructions:Electronic submission:
Please submit your abstract electronically if possible, as an email attachment in Microsoft Word® format. The filename should be your last name.
